Current Astrological Events for June 16 to 30

"To love someone deeply gives you stength.
Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage."
~Lao-Tzu

NOTE: This page was last updated on June 22, 2009

~ June 20 Sun enters Cancer at 10:45 pm PDT until 7/22.

The entry of the Sun into Cancer brings your focus to your home and family. You may find you are more nostalgic and emotional than usual. Generational issues and patterns often come forward now. Read more at MTT.

~ June 21 & 22 Venus conjunct Mars and both trine Saturn at 16˚ Taurus/Virgo

This is an unusual event that can be most productive and grounding in nature. There is a window of several days, both before and after, where you may feel inclined to persevere through resistance, inertia and/or procrastination and get those things started/done that have been on your "to-do" list for a while. Venus and Mars in Taurus provide the sense that your will and your desire natures are aligned and focused while Saturn in Virgo offers the "plan" in a workable, detailed fashion that will make this a very useful aspect.
SPW (i.e. StarPathways) TIP for making the most of this energy: Trust you instincts to guide you towards those projects or areas that need doing next. This event occurs in earth signs, so your instincts will let you know which way to go, perhaps better than your mind. So, if it doesn't "feel" right at a body level, don't do it. Go with what feels natural.

~ June 22 NEW MOON at 12:35 pm PDT at 1˚30’ Cancer

The Cancer New Moon is a very powerful one. It is opposing Pluto, and this will increase the intensity of this lunation, as is true whenever Pluto is involved. The subconscious is activated as feelings come to the surface, perhaps in an unexpected, even explosive, manner. It is important to not go into reactive mode now as you may say or do things you regret later. That said, this energy can also help you to sense more clearly what really motivates you. The key here is to follow your gut level feelings without necessarily acting out. Meaning, using this energy to get to the bottom of things, of what is really going on. But I suggest sitting with these now revealed feelings for a few days at least. And after some consideration, then open the floor for discussion. Now, and for a few days, it is just to volatile of a time.
The other thing to consider is that this is the New Moon before a Lunar Eclipse (on July 7). This gives the sense that something is "up". That what is currently going on is not the whole picture. If you have this feeling it is all the more important to take an observer stance for now. Yes, it may well be that "something" is brewing. All the more reason to pay careful attention to where your attention is drawn! Change is in the air, and during this unusual Lunation cycle it is most important to notice things going on, most likely in your environment, that could be indicaitons of changes to come.
No need to worry...just never hurts to get emotionally prepared for shifts and changes. Don't you think?
By the way, the houses in your chart where this new moon opposing Pluto occurs will give you more specific information as to what area of your life is getting ready for a shift. And since it is occuring in the signs of Cancer and Capricorn, it does influence the home/work arena for most.

NOTE: Below are events that I have had on previous AstroCurrents and that are still in effect.

~ June 6 Venus enters Taurus until 7/5.

Since Taurus is one of the signs that Venus rules (the other is Libra), it is most comfortable here. This placement of Venus brings with an added appreciation of all the things we love and love doing. It can shift our focus to such things as nature, dance, movement, the garden, great food and meals, and all things that bring us pleasure. It also rules natural sensuality and attraction. During this time, you will feel a pull to any or all of these areas of your life.
This placement will also bring attention to what you to your resources and finances, and how you value yourself and what you have (and naturally are). It is good to consider your blessings, your natural talents and those things that within your grasp, as opposed to seeking outside yourself for fulfillment or security. All that you truly need is nearby, Venus in Taurus wants to reminds us.
There can be a tendency to be possessive and/or jealous during this time. Also to watch out for now is doing anything in excess, such as indulging, spending, etc.

~ May 31 Mars enters Taurus until 7/11

Mars in Taurus can help you to be very productive and also creative, acting with deliberate intent. You may be more systematic and focused, as it is easier to zero in on the most critical tasks before you.
That’s the good news. Mars here can also make us more stubborn and resistant to necessary and positive change, even if it is what is best for the situation at hand. Use the more flexible Gemini energy present now to stay open to change if needed. That said, this is a very industrious energy, one that can help to get the job done through perseverance and staying with it. It can also have a centering effect, which can help to ground the sometimes flighty impulses of Gemini during this time.  Read more at Where are the Planets Now.

~ May 27 Jupiter conjunct Neptune at 26˚28' Aquarius~in effect through August.

This is a rare and special celestial event whose influence will last for several weeks. It has a very humanitarian impact as it seeks to unite us with others through that which we share and have in common. It is extremely benevolent and encourages understanding, tolerance and acceptance. As we tune into this vibration, we are better able to accept one another and see the truth they see, thus allowing our hearts and minds to being open and receptive to differences.
How this is impacting you personally is largely dependant upon where it is occurring in your chart and what it is aspecting. It is a most inspiring energy that can help to revitalize the vision for your life. By tuning into the highest frequency possible for any issue or situation in your life. It may well be that answers and ways of dealing with problems will appear unexpectedly. Look for innovative, new options as this aspect can help you to see with fresh eyes, thus creating new perspectives to help you create a new direction for some area of your life. Possibilities come forth now if you are open and looking.
There is a very mystical energy afoot when these two planets conjoin. It is this influence that I feel is easing some global tensions and opening pathways to greater understanding and tolerance. Jupiter seeks knowledge and understanding as Neptune can elevate these very things to higher, spiritual levels.
In the Tarot, this combination would be symbolized by the Star, the card of enlightenment and illumination. The Star brings in a higher frequency by bridging dimensions, allowing us to connect to the joy, sweetness and peace of mind that streams forth from the higher realms. To avail yourself of this most wonderful energy, ask for inspiration in whatever it is you are facing. Consciously seek to raise your vibration as you focus on these energies. You may be amazed at the results.

~ June 13 Mercury re-enters Gemini until 7/3.

Mercury here certainly can stimulate the mind. Mercury here certainly can stimulate the mind, providing you with lots of interesting new things to consider and think about. All forms of communication are activated as we seek out ways to connect and collaborate on projects and ideas. You may notice that you are more flexible and able to consider new options as well as others opinions and points of view. This can only be a good thing!
During this time, attitude is everything. This influence can open doors to understandings and sharing that weren’t there, or were just tightly shut, before. Lively conversations can arise spontaneously during this time, which can be very intellectually stimulating. Pay attention to solutions that come from such exchanges.
One thing to be aware of—avoid being gossipy or a know-it-all, meaning, do note engage mouth without consulting brain. And do be sure to get the facts before making any decisions. It can be a little too easy to assume that you have all the details before you actually do! A quick mind is a good thing, unless we skip over key elements because of being impatient.

~ June 15 Jupiter stations retrograde at 27˚ Aquarius until 10/12/09.

This is a most powerful station of Jupiter for two reasons. One is that it is conjunct Neptune (read below for more info) and two is because it is making a most benevolent aspect to the Sun (trining) while doing so, which magnifies the effect. Jupiter is considered to have a positive influence and is in fact called "The Great Benefactor". And during this station, there may be many good feelings in the air. This is a wonderful energy for gatherings, working within the context of a group environment and just, really, for all kinds of socializing.
This is also a good time to give consideration to your visions and dreams for your life as it opens you to inspiration and insights. It is a most expansive energy, one that can really help you to uncover your potential and unique offering. A key is to think in terms of the greater good. Meaning, what can you do that will help others? What is your gift to humankind? Jupiter here invites us to think this big and encourages us to not be afraid to open to grand order of things, if you will.
While Jupiter is retrograde, answers often arise from an inner process. Notice whatever occurs to you "out of the clear blue", while daydreaming, meditating or in any unsolicited, even off beat, manner. Give some thought to what truly inspires and "speaks" to you during this time. In the Fall, when Jupiter turns direct, you will have a better sense of where to go next in your life if you have spent some time between now and then opening to your own inner, and higher, source of inspiration.
In the meantime, meaning during the time of influence of this station (until at least the end of June), enjoy the benevolence of Life itself, open to being inspired in whatever form it comes and be sure to spend some time with those you care about and love.

~ May 28 Neptune stations retrograde until 11/04/09.

Since this Neptune station is occurring so close to the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction (see above) it makes both events all the more potent. There is very likely to be an unusual, mystical energy in the air. You may feel ungrounded and spacey but also open and receptive.
Pay very careful attention to the unplanned events and "chance" meetings". Also, notice anything that may be a "message". This could be in the form of an idea that pops into your head, a dream or an impression you have upon waking, or words to a song that won't leave your mind, or the book that mysteriously falls off your shelf. These messages could come in any number of ways. Write things down that occur during the several days before and after this event, as while it may not make sense to you at the time, it may well become significant later.
During the several days around this event, there are channels, doorways and portals open that may not always be so. Actually, it is not that they aren’t usually open, it is that we are more attuned and able to perceive them during this time. I call this phenomena “the veils between the worlds are thin”. Thus, this is a wonderful time for receiving information and insights that can be both uplifting and inspiring, and also informative and helpful.
Prayer, meditation, visualization techniques, asking your guides and angles for help, asking for dreams that offer insights and clarity are all ways to access this energy. And remember, those messages can come in many ways…especially now.

~ May 16 Saturn stations direct until 1/13/10.

Saturn has been retrograde since last New Year's Eve, which is interesting since it is the planet of goals and purpose and intention. And so, being retrograde at the beginning of the New Year may have felt like swimming upstream if/as you attempted to set new directions and start new regimes (i.e. resolutions).
I have heard many people say that they have felt this "stuck" or even stubborn and hard to move energy in various ways or that things in general seem sluggish and slow to get going. The BEST way to have handled this was to revisit and reevaluate and rethink and redo until you really felt "you got it right". This may have applied to your personal or your professional life. (Re-read December 31 below, which, btw, will be off AstroCurrents soon.)
Now, as it turns direct, it is time to implement and move on all this planning. However...Mercury just went retrograde which says, well, the opposite. So what do you do? First, Mercury will only be retrograde until the end of the month, so a little more patience is needed. That said, I think you notice this shift in internal ways as well as external. Meaning, have you come to interesting, though perhaps simple, realizations that life is about the choices you make? Have you become more mindful and careful with your actions and words? Have you found it easier to take things one at a time and not rush so much? If any of these are true, then it is likely that you have been incorporating the energies of this Saturn retrograde (since NYE) organically, without really much conscious effort. If so now, the benefits can be felt, or at least start to be felt.
One more thing, Saturn in Virgo LOVES being organized and having agendas and lists and being efficient in any way. So if you haven't given these things much thought in recent months, then do so now, while Mercury is still retrograde. Consider thi: you are now laying foundations for the next phase. Of what? Your goals. Your projects. Your relationships. Your life. Sometimes we just have to pay careful attention to where we place our attention, and to plan and to map out and prepare and think ahead and such. This is one of those times.

~ April 24 Venus re-enters Aries until 6/6

This is the 2nd time Venus has visited the sign of Aries in just a few weeks (usually it is about once a year), due to its retrograde motion of late (a once every 2 year event). Overall, while Venus is in Aries, you may feel especially inclined towards taking care of yourself as you ask questions related to if your needs are being met. And while personal gratification may rise to the forefront of your mind and heart, it is important not to be too demanding of those around you. Also, this is a time to be honest and open about how you feel. No dancing around the bush and playing games while Venus is in the sign of being bold and up front.
To learn more about the influence of Venus in Aries, see Where are the Planets Now.

~ May 13 Mercury (while retrograde) re-enters Taurus until 6/13

Mercury now invites you to slow down a bit and reconsider the direction you are going in or/and the recent decisions you have made. Are these in alignment with your values? Did you lay the proper groundwork? Are all your bases covered and plans in place? Sometimes it is good to evaluate where you are in this regard and this is one of those times. It is best to not necessarily change course now, but rather to view things from a grounded, practical place.
Another possible impact of Mercury here is that communications in general get sluggish and things just feel as though they are at a standstill. This is exasperated the fact that Saturn is about to station direct in a few days (see below), which also can bring things to a halt. The key to making these both work for you is to spend this time being thorough as you carefully lay out the plans for your next phase of any given project or situation in your life. This will be felt until the end of the month when Mercury turns direct.

~ April 4 Pluto stations retrograde at 3˚18' Capricorn until 9/11/09.

Whenever Pluto stations retrograde there is a strange vibe in the air…as though profound changes are at hand that we aren’t completely aware of. This can create a sense of deep stirrings and perhaps unsettled feelings. Something essential and structural in your life is wanting some attention. Have you been avoiding dealing with some area of your life that falls into this category? Is it time to make significant changes to some basic area of your life? Thinking in terms of long-term security may help to uncover what it is that needs your awareness and attention now and during the weeks ahead.

~ January 5 Jupiter enters Aquarius until 1/17/10

Jupiter changes signs each year and has now just entered Aquarius for the first time in 12 years. This is a significant shift of energies for all of us, regardless of your sign. It is a placement that encourages free thinking, new ideas and innovative solutions, an inventive spirit and a general openness to new ways of viewing things. Look for new directions and new options now, especially strong during these early weeks of Jupiter in Aquarius (through February, at least).
During this time that Jupiter is in Aquarius, expect new trends to be set, which should reflect values that are for the greater good. In your own life, exercising those practices that uphold what is best for all concerned is best. Independence and freedom are accented now. Barriers can break down that were upheld because of tradition and the “old way”. This is an ideal placement for the new hope and directions that the next administration is aspiring to.
Our minds are open to new levels of wisdom and truth. Studying with a group or taking new and unusual classes or workshops are beneficial during the time that Jupiter is in Aquarius. To access these most positive energies, stay open to new ways of living your life and practice tolerance towards those who are different than you.
One caution is to not get too extreme. This placement can encourage you towards that which is bizarre, strange and exciting…know that this may not be what is best for you. Saturn now in Virgo can be a help in practicing some discrimination.
